Seattle Part 1

Seattle makes me feel really homesick for California.

Someone come to New York and visit me.

On Thursday was Yom Kippur, so I had the day off of work. At Judi's request I went to view the New York Waterfalls. There are 4 of them and they are art instillation pieces. They are made from scaffolding because it is a common part of NYC's landscape and a reference to the city's continual physical transformation. 

There is a waterfall under the Brooklyn Bridge and one very near the Manhattan Bridge. I found a spot where I could see both of them and another one off in the distance. The 4th one is on an island and I was not able to see it.

St. Francis of Assisi Day

This past Sunday was St. Francis of Assisi Day. Also know as the blessing of the animals day.

 At St. John the Divine Cathedral, they have a famous service every year. You have to get tickets in advance to even go to the church service. So after church elsewhere we went and watched all the animals come out of the service! In past years they have had elephants and circus animals. This year the biggest animal was a camel.

Last Saturday Night

On Fridays and Saturdays The Met stays open "late", 9:00. So I convinced Alexie and Brian to take the bus (the one I'm currently obsessed with) down there. The Met is a "suggested donation", so you can get in by only paying 5 cents if you so desire. The bus is slow, but I like it anyway. So we get there around 8:15 and they sort of start guiding you out around 8:45ish. However the last hour is free so we didn't have to pay anything!

After The Met, we went to The Shake Shack for some dessert. Then we stopped by Times Square to see what was going on there. TONS of people, naturally.

New York Public Library and beyond!

On Saturday I took the bus down 5th Ave. I went to the worlds largest Build-A-Bear, went into the famous Tiffany & Co, ate a hotdog from a vendor in front of Central Park, went to Bryant Park, found the Rockefeller Plaza, and went to the New York Public Library (there are dozen of branches all over the city, but this is the BIG one!) Patrick told me they had tours you could take, and I thought that was silly, but then I got there and decided I did want to take one. So I did.

The NYPL. You can see both lions. Their names are Patience and Fortitude. Two virtues that all New Yorkers should have. It seems like every building in NY is getting worked on.

I went to the Today show!

Last week my roommmate, Alexie and I went to see the Today Show. We woke up really early, and let the apartment at 6:15! It was pretty cold there, so we stayed for about an hour and a half.

The Dodgers did it! They swept the Cubs in 3 games!

Maybe now Manny won't want to go back to New York after this season!
