This sort of thing is really only exciting if you like lighthouses... OR stories about me sweating...
The Little Red Lighthouse(there is a children's book written about it). The real name is Jeffrey's Hook lighthouse. It is not a functioning lighthouse so it is only open about once a month for tours. I had been planning on going all month.
Luckily it was on Sunday when the weather was about 90 degrees and 90% humidity! I got off the subway at 168. I ended up walking to about 181. Then through trails and such over the freeway, until I finally arrived (hot and sweaty and oh so attractive). There was a line outside the lighthouse to get in. The line was also all the way up the spiral staircase of the lighthouse. It was about 105 degrees inside! The stairs were fun because there was a line on them and then the people coming down had to pass by us. After making it past the spiral staircase we ten had to climb a ladder like thing to another little holding area. Where you then had to crouch down and climb through that square cut out to get outside.
The view from the top was nice, and the breeze was even better! All the sweat finally had a chance to dry. The last picture is of me leaving the lighthouse and I am on the phone with Emily. Hi Emily! Then I walked the over 3 miles home along the Hudson because I didn't think I was sweaty enough.
